What is Standing Between You and Your Desire?

what is stand between you and your desire

Consciousness is the only reality, not figuratively but actually. – Neville Goddard – Feeling is the Secret

If you feel that you are struggling with what you want to manifest the most in your life right now, if you feel that there is something standing between you and your desire, that “something” is YOU. Consciousness. YOUR consciousness is the ONLY reality, and what you are manifesting or the lack thereof it’s ALL you. Once you truly understand this from within, your conscious manifesting skill will improve.

There is no one and nothing standing between you and your desire, but yourself. However, when I coach people on a daily basis, I can feel that there is a part of them that believes that if they can’t have their desire, there’s something ‘out there’ outside of them that prevents it from happening. If this is what you believe deep down inside, then this article is for you.

The Difference Between the Conscious Mind and the Subconscious Mind

The conscious generates ideas and impresses these ideas on the subconscious; the subconscious receives ideas and gives form and expression to them. – Neville Goddard – Feeling is the secret

To develop our faith in the law and fully understand how we manifest it’s important to understand the basics. So, understanding the role of the conscious and the subconscious mind is very important.

Sometimes I get questions such as, if we are all God and we have a desire, why can’t we manifest it? When I get this type of question I understand that the person doesn’t understand the difference between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind is personal and selective and it is limited. The subconscious mind is impersonal and non-selective and it is unlimited. It is all-powerful and it works on autopilot according to the nature of its content. When we use both our conscious and subconscious minds correctly, we can manifest everything and anything that we may want. When don’t use them ‘incorrectly’, however, things become much more complicated.

What do I mean by ‘incorrectly’? When you experience a recurring pattern in your life. Something unwanted that you can’t seem to be able to get rid of from both your mind and your life it’s because it’s a subconscious belief that is holding that pattern into place. Because of that belief that became a subconscious belief over repetition, it’s playing out in your life automatically. A subconscious belief is nothing less, nothing more than a thought that we have kept playing in our mind until it was imprinted in the subconscious mind.

Once a belief is accepted at a subconscious level it becomes part of our perception. We have no choice but to see the world through that filter, as it were. In turn, it is your perception of the world that makes your life the way it is. It is NOT the external world that is ‘moving’ of its own accord. However, the illusion is so big, that it seems that way for most people who do not understand how we create our life. The moment you change that perception from within, however, your external results will change automatically.

Your subconscious mind is working on autopilot according to whatever data was put there. If you are failing in some areas of your life it’s because the data is faulty, so to speak, therefore, the autopilot is not working in your favor. As an example, I embodied the belief that I was abandoned when my father died when I was five, and my subconscious mind, being impartial, registered that a ‘normal’ state for me. Sylviane must be abandoned. Thus I created people abandoning me my whole life until I found Neville Goddard’s teaching and the law of assumption.

Your Current Circumstances Match the Content of Your Consciousness

The Conscious generates ideas and impresses these ideas on the subconscious; the subconscious receives ideas and gives form and expression to them. Neville Goddard – Feeling is the Secret

We don’t even always know where negative subconscious programmings come from, but that’s OK, we don’t need to know where a problem comes from to get rid of it. All we need is to be aware that it exists. Being aware is where we start. The easiest way to become aware of the content of your subconscious mind is by looking at your life. Are you very successful in one area of your life while not so much in another? It’s because you have very different subconscious beliefs in each of those areas. In such a case, you would have to ‘reprogram’ (change) your beliefs in order to change the results that you are getting in your external world.

In order to reprogram your subconscious mind, you are going to use your conscious mind. While the subconscious mind is where the power is, it cannot and will not reprogram itself. Once something is anchored down on the subconscious mind it’s there to stay unless we consciously replace it with something else.

This is where tools, such as specific and targetted affirmations come in handy. Your new affirmations are meant to replace your old unwanted thoughts that are playing out in your life on autopilot. Unlike what some manifesting coaches are saying about affirmations, there are no other ways to change the content of your subconscious mind. This is what Neville called inner talk or inner conversations. Even the Bible talks about inner conversations and powerful it is. So, no, affirmations are nothing new. This said, unless you affirm with intention and determination, you might find yourself repeating phrases like a robot without the desired effect.

The reason why it’s so important to imprint the subconscious mind with chosen ideas, chosen thoughts, through the medium of chosen and specific affirmations (new healthier inner conversations) it’s because what is imprinted in the subconscious mind constitutes the content of our consciousness. And the content of our consciousness creates our external world.

God is YOU And YOU are God

You are God. You are the “I AM that I AM.” You are consciousness. You are the creator. This is the mystery, this is the secret known by the seers, prophets, and mystics throughout the ages. Neville Goddard – The Power of Awareness

When Neville and today’s Neville Students use the word God it is not in a religious sense, whatsoever. Anyone who is a follower of Neville’s teaching that would be “religious” wouldn’t be, in fact, following the teaching of Neville. Everything that we can perceive, everything that exists in the universe in which we live IS GOD, thus, WE ARE GOD.

If I were to ask you the question, who is reading these lines, you would say I AM. But who is that I AM? It is not your body, it is not your brain, it is not your heart, it is not even your subconscious mind… That I AM is God. Who you truly are.

“Who is you? That it is you, John Jones or Mary Smith, is absurd. It is the consciousness which knows that you are John Jones or Mary Smith. it is your great self, your deeper self, your infinite being. Call it what you will.” Neville Goddard – The Power of Awareness

Being a human is just a part of your IAMness. It is not all that you are, and if you think this way you are going to limit yourself greatly. You are going to believe that you have limits, that you may or may not be able to achieve this goal or that goal, and that there might be a force outside of you that may be for or against you, that may allow you to have this, but no that. When in truth, all you have to do is to convince yourself that what you intend to believe and experience is going to BE so because YOU declared it to be true.

Next time that you have any doubt about who you truly are, remember that.
